Trust: Angelika Kollin

This intimate portrait is a part of the project “You are my Mother,” that stretched over three continents for two years. This body of work began during the strict covid lockdown in South Africa, Cape Town, in 2020. What was happening around in the world was very threatening and unreal that it triggered many fears surfacing in many people. In these turbulent times people opened up to re-examine and reevaluate their life and priorities. “For many, that feeling is connected to the love and nurturing we have received from parents” states award-winning Estonian photographer Angelika Kollin. “My perplexed emotional state pushed me to look for “safety” through artistic expression, and so this body of work started to come to light. I was portraying the search for reassurance, for our innate human desire to trust and to feel safe”.
